SYNTHETIC VITAMIN B9
SYNTHESISES⎪ METABOLISES ⎪ PROTECTS
Vitamin B9, also known as folic acid or folate, plays an essential role in our bodies. It is involved in DNA formation and repair, as well as cell renewal.
It is also important for the normal development of the foetus’ nervous system during pregnancy. It is also essential when taking hormone-based contraceptives, as these reduce magnesium and vitamin B6 and B9 levels.
Thanks to its antioxidant properties, vitamin B9 also contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system and can help reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as cardiovascular disease.
Vitamin B9 is often deficient when we eat an unbalanced diet and/or drink alcohol too regularly.
But where do we find it? In many of our foods, such as green leafy vegetables (spinach, kale, broccoli, etc.), legumes, citrus fruit, eggs, peanuts, etc.
Note that this is a heat-sensitive vitamin, meaning that it is unstable when cooked: we therefore recommend gentle cooking such as steaming.
In our Women’s Balance, vitamin B9 is synthetic. We made this choice for reasons of dosage. A natural vitamin B9 would have taken up too much space in our tablets.
