What is ginkgo biloba?

We no longer present ginkgo biloba, tree with 1000 nicknames known for having resisted Hiroshima, whose virtues are constantly rediscovered and highlighted in numerous publications.

It allows to stimulate blood circulation and hair microcirculation thanks to its richness in flavonoids and terpenes (antioxidants), vitamins B1 and C and minerals such as iron, phosphorus and zinc.  In this sense, ginkgo is recommended in cases of circulation problems of the veins in the legs or for micro-circulation problems of the scalp.

If we want to keep it simple, in our Densifying hair serum, ginkgo would be a bit like the “coffee” of the scalp, stimulating it so that it correctly brings nutrients to the hair bulb. It really is our flagship active ingredient to boost circulation in the scalp in synergy with menthol.

Likewise in our Body serum, it has a circulatory and draining effect, decongesting tense areas thanks to its high antioxidant content.

Where does ginkgo biloba come from?

Originally from Asia, and particularly from China, ginkgo biloba is nicknamed "the tree of a thousand crowns" for its golden leaves in autumn. This resilient tree is considered a “living fossil” due to its age. Ginkgo leaves and seeds have been used for millennia in traditional Chinese medicine to treat various conditions, but today only the leaves are used in modern extracts. Ginkgo trees are now grown in various parts of the world, including Korea, Japan, and Europe.

Properties and active ingredients

Ginkgo biloba contains several bioactive compounds that give it unique properties, particularly for cognitive and circulatory health. Here are the main active ingredients of this plant:

  1. Flavonoids : These powerful antioxidants, such as quercetins and kaempferols, protect cells against oxidative stress and promote blood circulation.
  2. Terpenoids (Ginkgolides and Bilobalides) : These unique compounds in ginkgo help dilate blood vessels, improve microcirculation, and reduce platelet aggregation, which can improve circulation.
  3. Neuroprotective effects : Components of ginkgo protect neurons from oxidative damage, which may support brain health and memory.
  4. Anti-inflammatory effects : Ginkgo may reduce inflammation in blood vessels, helping to improve peripheral circulation and decrease symptoms related to circulation disorders.

What are the benefits of ginkgo biloba?

Ginkgo biloba is renowned for its many health benefits, particularly for cognitive and circulatory support. Here are the main benefits of this plant:

  1. Improved memory and concentration : Ginkgo is widely used to stimulate cognitive functions, especially in older people. It is often recommended to help reduce memory problems and to improve concentration and mental clarity.
  2. Blood circulation support : Ginkgo biloba promotes circulation, particularly in the brain and extremities. It can help relieve the symptoms of cold hands and feet, numbness and reduce the feeling of heavy legs.
  3. Antioxidant properties : Ginkgo flavonoids provide protection against free radicals, thus slowing cellular aging and protecting cells, particularly in the brain.
  4. Support for tinnitus and dizziness : Ginkgo is often used to reduce tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and dizziness, due to its positive effect on blood circulation in the inner ear.
  5. Reduction of anxiety and stress : Some studies suggest that ginkgo may help reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress by improving blood flow and acting as a mild relaxant.
  • Is rich in antioxidants
  • Activates circulation and microcirculation in the scalp and legs
  • Has a decongestant effect on tense areas

How to consume ginkgo biloba?
