What is sea buckthorn oil?

Sea buckthorn oil is extracted from the berries of the sea buckthorn tree (Hippophae rhamnoides), a thorny shrub that grows mainly in Europe and Asia. Known for its bright orange color, it is rich in essential nutrients, including omega-3, 6, 7 and 9 fatty acids, vitamins (A, C and E) and antioxidants. In cosmetics and herbal medicine, this oil is particularly prized for its regenerating, hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties. It is suitable for all skin types, but is particularly beneficial for dry, mature and irritation-prone skin, thanks to its ability to restore the skin barrier and reduce the signs of aging.

Sea buckthorn oil is a powerful ingredient in a complete and effective skin and hair routine. It is rich in vitamin C and E but also in essential fatty acids such as Omega-7. In this sense, the oil from sea buckthorn provides a deep moisturizing action. It also contributes to the regeneration of epidermal cells and to supporting the elasticity and tone of the skin.

In our In & Out [MY] Skin and Hair Essentials treatment, it deeply hydrates the skin and soothes the most sensitive skin, in addition to helping with cell regeneration.

Sea buckthorn oil (Omegia®)

Sea buckthorn oil is a rare and powerful vegetable oil, extracted from the berries of a wild shrub resistant to extreme climates. At MiYé, we have chosen to use only the most qualitative and complete form: Omegia®, a very high quality sea buckthorn oil, obtained by cold pressing from the pulp and seeds of the fruit, for optimal synergy in active ingredients.

This oil is distinguished by its exceptional richness in omega-7, a rare and precious fatty acid that plays an essential role in regeneration of mucous membranes, the skin tissue repair and maintaining a good hydrolipidic balance, particularly at the intimate level. But Omegia® oil doesn’t stop there: it also contains a balanced combination ofomega-3, 6 and 9, as well as a natural cocktail of carotenoids, vitamins E and A, powerful antioxidants that help protect cells from oxidative stress and strengthen the skin's barrier functions.

At MiYé, we have selected Omegia® for its impeccable traceability, its production method that respects assets and its demonstrated efficiency on the dryness of the mucous membranes (vaginal, oral, intestinal), particularly during periods of hormonal upheaval such as premenopause, menopause or even postpartum. Clinical studies have notably highlighted its positive impact on reducing discomfort linked to intimate dryness.

Using Omegia® means choosing one active ingredient at a time ultra-nourishing, restorative and protective, perfectly adapted to the specific needs of women at each stage of their hormonal life. A signature ingredient that we are proud to integrate into some of our expert formulas, to combine intimate well-being and overall health.

Where does sea buckthorn oil come from?

Sea buckthorn grows naturally in temperate and cold zones of Europe and Asia, and is mainly found by the sea or in mountainous regions. The nutrient-rich sea buckthorn berries are harvested and then cold pressed to obtain a pure and concentrated oil. This method preserves the active properties of the oil, thus guaranteeing a quality product. Today, sea buckthorn is sustainably grown for the production of oil, which is used in skin and hair care for its nourishing and protective benefits. Thanks to its high content of rare fatty acids, such as omega-7, sea buckthorn oil has become a sought-after ingredient in natural and organic skincare products.
