LIQUORICE
RELIEVES ⎪ SOOTHES ⎪ PROTECTS
Liquorice is a small plant that we know mainly for its characteristically sweet smell and colour, but it is in fact a staple in traditional medicine. Licorice, or Gan Cao in Chinese medicine, is a plant rich in immunostimulant polysaccharides, flavonoids and triterpene saponins such as glycyrrhizic acid.
These components have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that act on the whole body: it is known as having a “systemic” action because it acts on the whole organism. Liquorice is known for its potential to inhibit the breakdown of cortisol into its inactive form, thereby increasing the amount of cortisol available in the body. Cortisol is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory. By reinforcing its anti-inflammatory action, liquorice reduces skin irritation and inflammation. Very powerful in topical application, with no contraindications.
In our perfecting hydrating emulsion and smoothing body massage serum, we use dipotassium glycyrrhizate, derived from glycyrrhizic acid for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
ITS BENEFITS:
- Has anti-inflammatory properties
- Prevents the breakdown of cortisol
- Reduces skin irritation, redness and inflammation
